Ethiopia Guji

$21.00

medium light roast // natural process // cranberry, cashew, lemon

The last two years have been a wild time for coffees traveling from Africa.

Most coffees from the continent leave through the Port of Djibouti. They proceed into the Gulf of Aden and then on to their next port of call.

This route became untenable, however, when Houthi rebels in Yemen (Djibouti’s cross-gulf neighbor) began directly targeting shipping vessels with missiles.

With this shipping artery blocked, frantic efforts to find alternative routes began.

In the meantime, supplies of Ethiopian coffees dwindled, and we found that most suppliers didn’t have many (or any) African coffees to offer.

But now, it’s back!

We’re excited to be offering our first coffee from the Guji region in western Ethiopia.

During taste testing, we found that its body has a slight nuttiness that pairs beautifully with cashews.

The finish is brighter, with notes of cranberry and lemon. For your first brew, we encourage you to take a small sip of lemon juice, followed by a sip of this coffee. It resolves into a perfect pairing.
